Camp and Other Updates

Colten had a great time at camp, said he sent all of his notes, so hopefully you got them! He got 2nd place with his rocket he made in Advanced Rocketry and was very proud of it!

Ashlyn had her EEG last week, we will have to wait for results from the doctor, but we're hopeful the news will be good. And unfortunately, we found out she didn't get the scores she needed on the SAT, just the opposite from last time. She got 600 and 560 on reading and math before and 560 and 640 this time. So she's gotten the scores she needs on both parts, but not at the same time :( probably will have to try again in the fall.


And our Colorado vacation plans have changed, the area we were planning on going has a 70,000+ acre fire going on right now, sadly. So we're going to go camping for a weekend and then the kids are going to stay with mom & dad for Omie & Opie camp and we're going to try to find something to do, we'll see what happens, but at least we'll still get some time off to hang out. Now we're really looking forward to skiing in CO this Christmas!!!

Summertime!

Today is the first day of summer for the kids! They both ended the year with all A's and B's and so we will have a senior and a 7th grader next year, oh boy! So far the summer will be pretty busy. Colten has basketball camp at school this week. Next weekend we're going to Austin to Emily & Scott's son,  Drew's, 4th birthday and to help them with their packing- they will be moving back to North Dakota the next week and we will sure miss them! Even though we don't see them a whole lot, it will be even harder to do now :( We do plan on visiting them some time in the next couple of years, though. Then the 16th-22nd, Colten will be at Hermann Son's Camp and after that, from June 28th-July 7th, we will be going to Colorado with Mom & Dad for some camping and hiking and who knows what else. Since that would be the week the kids would normally go with them by themselves, we will do some things separate from them so they can still have their bonding time ;) Then Ashlyn is booked to fly to North Dakota by herself to stay with Emily & Scott for 1-1/2 weeks July 31- Aug 10 to help Emily out. We're all pretty nervous about her flying by herself, but kids do that all the time and she'll be 17, so she should be fine, and it will be a good adventure for her and should give her some self confidence. Then school will start again at the end of August, whew that was a lot! In between time, the kids will be helping John around the ranch with getting rid of mesquites and other fun things like that ;) Colten is trying to save up money to buy an Xbox, so we'll see if he manages to do that.

SAT

Ashlyn's taking the SAT for the 3rd time this morning. She needs to score a 600 on the math and reading parts to get into A&M automatically and the last time she took it she got 600 and 590. So everyone think 600 (or 610 for good measure) for her today! She's been studying a lot this week so I'm praying it was enough to get her a few extra right answers. 👍 thanks everyone!!!

Unfortunately we won't know the score until June 20.
