Camping & Ashlyn's 17th Birthday

Since our Colorado trip didn't work out (the campground we had reserved is still evacuated due to fire), we planned a short trip to the Kingsland Slab RV park for the weekend. I had been to the slab with a friend as a kid and had always wanted to go back and then heard there was an RV park there so had to check it out. Of course we picked the hottest days so far this year to do this and didn't get too energetic outside. It was 111 one of the days! The river was pretty nice, but not very refreshing. When we went swimming Friday afternoon it felt better to be out of the water than in it! Fortunately it was nice in the river Saturday morning after a nice birthday breakfast for Ashlyn. We planned staying most of the day Sunday, but we woke up to thunder in the distance at 6:15am and had to get the camper popped down, John didn't trust it to stay together during a storm. We got it all put away just in time and then had breakfast after the rain stopped. Since we were already packed up, we decided to call it a day and just met back at my parents for a dip in their pond with COOL water :). Sunday was a beautiful day and it barely got into the 80s, figures!!! But we had a fun time hanging out and even Rena was able to come.

Here are some photos:

Ashlyn's Birthday and Camping

This week, the kids are hanging out with Omie and Opie and John and I have a short trip to New Braunfels planned. The week is getting somewhat cut short though... just found out that Ashlyn's EEG got lost when a computer crashed so we have to take her back Friday to get another one. Frustrating!!! Fortunately this one won't cost us anything.
