Easter

We had a very good, very busy Easter week, and oddly enough, I didn't take many pictures! John & I had a busy day Wed when we dug up all the dirt between the smokehouse and the fence and replaced it with crushed granite. We were both completely wore out by the time we were done, but were very happy with the results. The plan is to continue the gravel around the windmill and tankhouse since the grass never has grown good there and then we don't have to mow around all that stuff. It'll take a while to get all of that done, though! Thurs & Fri were busy cleaning up the yard and the house for our annual Easter BBQ and the sunrise service Easter morning. The BBQ was fun even if the weather didn't cooperate - it was cool and windy. We all of course ate WAY too much, but that's what holidays are for, right? We had been hearing all week that there was a possibility of severe storms Sat night and Sun morning so we managed to find a roof for all 7 cars of the overnight guests we had so we wouldn't have to move them around in the middle of the night if we did get some nasty weather. Luckily, there were no bad storms, but we were ready! It did drizzle during sunrise service (of course the previous Wed-Fri mornings all had extraordinarily pretty sunrises, but not Sunday!), but around 80 people still showed up with their umbrellas for the service.

We found out Wed that Colten had missed a baseball game on Tue and that there would be another on Thur, so we finally made it one of his games after missing the first two! He got two hits, the first one he got out on first, but the second one, he made the rounds and scored for the team. They ended up winning 13-9 against Harper. Friday, Colten got to go to a birthday party for one of his friends where they went to San Antonio and played laser tag and watched a movie - he even got to spend the night - needless to say, he was thrilled!

Sunday when we got back home after church and lunch with the Reeh's at Mamacita's, we told the kids they were banished outside since they were stuck inside most of Sat due to the weather. We have a big pile of granite gravel waiting to be installed in the yard and told the kids they could play in it. At first they were just digging big holes and got bored (where's their imagination?), but I told them they should make caves and make the hill be like a city - so then they got their littlest pet shops and other little toys out to live in the holes and they didn't want to come in anymore. Ashlyn said I had a great idea :) So great that they did that all day Monday, too, since they had off. I was proud :)
